About
Equity and Inclusivity in Energy Efficiency: Building off the work of the side-by-side advocacy challenge group, how can NEWHAB partners support increased engagement of tenant advocacy groups and tenants in utility regulation, including EE, IRP, and rate cases? What is already happening and what new ideas/methods are possible? (Potential Product: Case studies or list of examples of successful work with tenants/tenant advocacy; exploration of new ideas)
Group Goal: Reach out to tenants and tenant advocacy groups to discuss NEWHAB’S work and mission, identify opportunities for future collaboration
Our Work: Interviewed tenant advocacy leaders—discussed their organizational priorities, experiences of tenants, energy efficiency and affordability needs, and related issues
Next Steps:
- Respond to workshop idea competition
- Research on related issues of utility burdens and evictions
- Research on inefficiency as a public health issue and impact on occupant health (potential areas of focus: respiratory health, sleep and stress)
- Continued engagement of tenants and advocacy groups
