“Unlike other professional conferences, NEWHAB lets me bring all of myself to the meeting.”

Member driven and collectively visioned, NEWHAB’s in-person and virtual convenings are an exercise in democratic design processes. Each convening involves dozens of planning committee members and an active local host committee. These are mindfully designed as gatherings that foster relationships across sectors. We lean heavily into intimate conversations rather than panel discussions, problem-solving sessions rather than case study presentations, and inviting members to connect their intellectual work to their heart-driven work. All of our convenings are guided by the following principles:
Racial Equity at the Foundation: NEWHAB strives to ensure that principles of racial equity and racial justice inform the design and programmatic choices for the convening.
Whole People: NEWHAB invites people to show up as whole people, not just wearing a job title. Convenings are a space for creating authentic relationships, not just transactional connections. Participating in a NEWHAB convening is an invitation for personal change and growth.
Heart and Courage: NEWHAB invites people to bring their best selves and be courageous during our time together with the full expectation that this work—these heartfelt conversations—will change us, and in changing us, change the world as well.
Experiential and Participatory: NEWHAB convenings are designed to be experiential and participatory, and to provide time to connect with your colleagues and find opportunities to collaborate. Convenings help foster new ideas and augment existing ones to take back to your communities and colleagues.
Learning and Growth: Convenings are designed to intentionally break down barriers to old ways of thinking, deliver actionable best practices, and create a space for breakthrough problem-solving. Through these processes we gain new tools, broader perspectives, and are compelled to action.
“I never know what to expect from a NEWHAB Convening, but I know I don’t leave disappointed.”
